Use Your Words

One of the most influential ways in which we can make a difference is to choose and then use our words to show we care, speak our truth, or confront injustice. Please join this group to connect with those who use their words to influence others.

The Lost Generation

This video is a great example of how young people can use their words to make a difference! Make sure to watch the entire thing--what a great and creative message.

Last year, students at the Special Olympics World Youth Summit were asked to create PSAs that could inspire people to quit using the word "retard" in offensive ways.

What other examples can you share of how we can use words to make a difference?

I would like to share a poem written by a Greek person living in Sydney, Australia. His name is SS. Harkianakis. The original poem was written in Greek. This is a translation. It speaks to the heart of all of us.....

On the Trail

Sometimes we should reach the maturity
to measure the human being not from the sum
of what one does or what one says
but above all from the tone of voice
the absentminded gaze
some awkward gesture.
In those isolated fragments
is hidden more authentically if not integrally
the image of one's neighbour
rather than in the futile effort
to present harmonized
for social evaluation
elements by nature heterogeneous.

Erik certainly made a difference. It's the little things that are often most appreciated! So well done Erik I hope you keep this up.

Good on you Erik. I bet your parents are appreciative of all you are doing at home. Perhaps you can build on this and continue to do some of those things, like making your bed. I think you're off to a great start. : )

Reminds me of Shel Silverstein's the giving tree, I also really enjoyed the abrupt imagery that you created.
