Hi Heath,
Welcome. This is a great space. I've got a lot of ideas from others and hopefully have shared something as well. As my school is on the path to IB - service learning fits nicely into our curriculum. And for personal development it's crucial. I teach Prep and even though they are very young they have already developed a sense of service through action.
Cheers Nina

Hi Heath, Welcome to our community. I suspect you might be the Heath who went to the ELH Conference and who left a comment on my blog. Let the community here know a little more about you Heath and what you might be thinking of doing to make a difference. There are plenty of inspiring educators and students here who are doing their bit. You could take a look at some of the blog posts and make some connections with them. Thanks for joining.

Jenny : )

Nice to be here

Hello Jenny
That was my second visit to ELH after first attending in 2003. On both occasions I saw some inspiring presentations and met some wonderful people. I learned a lot from the keynote presentations by Andrew and Travis and absolutely loved Mark Liddell's presentation - phenomenal!

Get Global

As a part of our personal development programme, this term we will be using aspects of the UK developed resource Get Global. This provides teachers with ideas for lessons and activities which promote global citizenship in the classroom. It begins by having the students explore the question of what it means to be a global citizen: thinking about their future and how they can make a difference as individuals. Students then choose an issue… Continue

Personal Development and Science

On the last day of term (this Friday, the students in my class will be walking to our local wetland to particiapte in some conservation activities including rubbish pick up and tree planting. We have successfully managed to combine this community project, which links in with our Science module on wetland biology, with our Personal Development theme for the term focusing on community service. While the boys have mainly focused on work around their own homes, local sporting clubs and neighbourhood… Continue

Hello members of working together 2 make a difference. I was fortunate enough to be drawn here after hearing about Jenny's wonderful presentation at the ELH2009 conference. Although I did not meet Jenny, I have since visited her fantastic wikispace and blog site.

I am a Middle School teacher interested in learning more about integrating technology in my classroom. I teach Science and Maths in a large independent boys school in Perth where I have worked for nine years. We are a tablet school so… Continue
