School wide fundraiser Our State of Victoria has been marred by tragedy this past weekend. Temperatures of 46 degrees celcius and fierce northerly winds led to firestorm conditions. Parts of country Victoria have been ravaged and there has been a huge loss of life. To date there have been 173 recorded deaths with the possibility that this figure could rise to numbers in the 200's.
As a school community, Toorak College is responding with a school wide fundraiser this Thursday. A special assembly will be held to allow our students to reflect and extend their sympathy to communities who are suffering. Australia is rallying behind those affected with fundraising efforts springing up everywhere. I will post the results of our school's efforts when a final tally is available.
Pictures detailing the extent of the fire can be seen
here. Please note there is an image of a deceased horse that would not be suitable for younger children. It doesn't open by itself, you need to click a link to have it open so it won't unnecessarily disturb you.
