Hi Mike, Mike, Comics have such an impact on all ages. Their ability to capture the essence of an idea or an emotion in 3 - 6 panels and usually put a smile on your face at the same time has always amazed me. Please share your students work with ...

John, I'm so glad that you posted this comic! I have introduced my students to Bitstrips, which is a comic creation tool, and I can't help but think that I have a wonderful opportunity to incorporate this into our Making A Difference program. I re...

Great comic. Angela, I sympathise with you, but mostly I admire the fact that you have raised a child who thinks about others before herself. My kids are kind and caring, but could do with a bit more of the 'think of others before yourself' approa...

My life is a comic. Why am I not surprised? Seriously--I think someone was eavesdropping on a conversation I had with Laura last week. Only her hair isn't red and mine is substantially thinner. I recognize those bags under the mother's eyes though...

G'day! This ning has educated me about Service Learning'. I understand the importance of inquiry leading to student led action. Once the children 'think' like this it becomes part of their 'natural' learning...and that's 5 & 6 year olds. Three of ...

Welcome to Working together 2 make a difference John. Can you tell us a little more about yourself and what you may be thinking of doing to make a difference. There are some wonderful educators here who are trying to incorporate service learning into their practice. Take a look around and see what they are doing. Nina Davis and Mike Poluk are trying things - have a look at their pages.
Cheers,

Jenny Luca.

Service Work in the Comics

This morning I came across this great mention of service work in the comics pages.

It points out two things that I think are important about students and service work:

1. They can be super enthusiastic about the idea.
2. Over commitment can put a stop to real action taking place.

Have a super day folks!

John
