Hey Rob, Are you teaching Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart together this year for AP? If so, you might want to look at this TED talk (or have the kids look at it). It is about the dangers of "one story". http://www.ted.com/talks/chimamanda...

The Goal of the Global Poetry Project

Poetry is powerful. The fact that words on a page or, in the case of the Global Poetry Project, on a screen can elicit emotion is quite amazing. The aim of the Global Poetry Project goes further than that though. This is not a project merely put into place to provide an alternate means of publishing; there is much more going on here. The GPP allows its members artist access. Holden Caulfield of J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye says that his favorite books are the ones that after he’… Continue

Thanks to a good deal of communication that led to an alignment of visions, that environment is starting to grow. Hi Rob, Great to have you join us. I'm looking forward to seeing what connections we can make with your school through this space. We are comfortable with having students join; we do all we can to ensure that this space is a safe one for both staff and students alike. Really pleased that you're here.

Hey Rob! Good to see you here : ))) Let me know what I can do to help you settle in. If you are up to any sort of service learning or project work with your kids, feel free to share it here. It's a place to celebrate the small things we're doing with students to make a difference and to connect with others who are doing the same.

Good on you Erik. I bet your parents are appreciative of all you are doing at home. Perhaps you can build on this and continue to do some of those things, like making your bed. I think you're off to a great start. : )

Reminds me of Shel Silverstein's the giving tree, I also really enjoyed the abrupt imagery that you created.
