Personal Development at Toorak College

In Year 9 Personal Development at Toorak College, every student goes to a Retirement Village called Lorikeet Lodge. The students go on one day for a few weeks. We talk to the people and ask them questions. I participated in this program.

Toorak College Fund Raisers

Toorak College as a school rises thousands of dollars each year to donate to many causes. This includes charities like International Women’s Day, the Bush Fire Appeal and the starlight foundation. We have many free dress days and food stalls, with the aim to make money and give to charities. I have donated to each and every fund raisers.

Making a difference in Tute

At school we do many fund raisers to help and donate to charities and our community. We do this mainly through our tute groups. Tute is another term for homeroom. This is a small class in which we get notices and do activities. Every year level will have a charity that they would like to donate to. I have been Tute Leader many times in past years and helped organise fund raisers. I have helped raise a lot of money for worthy causes.

In Business Management Unit One, our class has been split up and are running small business stalls in small groups. Our aim is to run successful stalls and get a sense of what it will be like to run businesses. We are learning how hard it is to make a profit and have a successful business.
We ran our Business stalls on Thursday 30th of April 2009. I worked wit… Continue

Hi Sarah,
You know as a teacher that something is special when it captures students. I'm impressed by what your school is doing and even more that you're sharing what you're doing in this ning!

As the students are preparing their reflections and writing responses to Three Cups of Tea, I have found it to be very interesting the connections they have made. The text to world, text to self and text to text connections are unique and personal...

Erik certainly made a difference. It's the little things that are often most appreciated! So well done Erik I hope you keep this up.

Good on you Erik. I bet your parents are appreciative of all you are doing at home. Perhaps you can build on this and continue to do some of those things, like making your bed. I think you're off to a great start. : )

Reminds me of Shel Silverstein's the giving tree, I also really enjoyed the abrupt imagery that you created.
