Working together 2 make a difference

Educators working collaboratively

How nice it is to get a written 'thankyou' and this one certainly goes above and beyond! The writer linked her thanks to our school values - that's a project in itself!! This letter was to our Principal:

On behalf of Fitted for Work Mornington Peninsula I would like to extend my thanks to the Toorak College community for its work in supporting the launch of the FFW service in Frankston. Fitted for Work assists disadvantaged women by providing them with free clothing to attend job interviews, as well as providing them with confidence building sessions and interview skills. FFW is not-for-profit and is run entirely by volunteers. We receive no Government funding and undertake significant fundraising to deliver the service to these clients.

In particular, I would like to commend the work of Amanda Ritter and her students who lead a project which involved raising funds, which were then provided to students and staff to “create” outfits suitable for women to wear to attend a job interview. Several students attended the launch of Fitted for Work in Frankston on Wednesday evening and modelled their outfits in front of an audience that included the Founder of Fitted for Work in Australia, Marion Webster, the CEO of Fitted for Work Melbourne, Jane Hunt, and other business leaders, many of them women, from across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

As both a Toorak College “old girl” and mother of Emma (Yr 12 – 2008) and Chloe (Yr 9) I was extremely proud of the achievements of the girls and the way they conducted themselves in such a professional manner at the launch. Amanda’s presentation was extremely professional and also displayed warmth and humour, which added to the atmosphere on the night.

The project the Toorak College community undertook on behalf of Fitted for Work certainly exemplified one of the school’s stated values of Leadership Through Service. I think the girls also displayed a number of the “attributes” that were highlighted at speech night last night. They were proud, committed and showed great initiative!

Please extend our thanks to Amanda Ritter, the students involved and the wider Toorak College community.

Kind regards

Amanda Leck
